Comment: Changing the future of Cambodia, one child at a time. Cambodian Child's Dream Organization (CCDO) is a non-profit organization centered in Siem Reap that seeks to aid the youngest members of the population. Though the CCDO does many things, one of their primary objectives is to provide clean water to those living in poverty. A mere $220 builds a well to give access to clean water for 40 people and lasts 10 years. Visit http://friendsofccd.org to learn more.

Comment: I spent over 2 weeks last summer in Taiwan for a Mission trip representing Canaan Taiwanese Church. This child was from Chiayi camp. At first, everyone thought he was a rambunctious girl who likes to fight with boys. Later we witnessed him peeing standing up in a toilet. He lives with his grandpa who is a buddhist. The goal of the Mission trip is the teach children about God in Taiwan.

Comment: Compassion and Courage. Karin Saks rescues and cares for orphan baboons and primates in South Africa. These misunderstood primates are shot, snared and poisoned by many farmers that view them as vermin or pests. Orphans are left to die of starvation or fall victim to predators. Karin's compassion and courage to care for the most persecuted animals in South Africa is an inspiring example of Compassion in Action.

Comment: I work with at-risk youth near my college in California, tutoring, and volunteering 4 extra hours a week at a youth group they attend. This particular drawing is out of my journal from last spring, based off of a photo taken when I worked with the children of high school mothers in South Africa during a study-abroad experience. This little girl's name is Akhona (Uh-cone-uh). Wherever I go, I want nothing more than to let young people know how valued and loved they are, and to be a voice out of the darkness that advocates for justice and grace!

Comment: Laughter among friends is not a given for young people with Asperger’s or High Functioning Autism. So when my daughter, who has Asperger’s, said “Mom, I really want friends,” I followed Ghandi’s “Be the change you want to see...” and started ASAP, a social support group. Despite often being brilliant and creative, neuro-developmental differences keep these young people from understanding social cues, so they often lack friends and are extremely lonely. ASAP bridges that gap. At the core of our success: run the group as a club where people are friends the moment they walk in the door.

Comment: When I saw these fabrics featuring classic RV's, campers, and campground maps and scenes, they brought fun memories to mind. As a member of NARFE (National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees), our organization regularly supports Alzheimer's Research. I made this 6'x7' quilt to be raffled off in May 2013 at the CA State Convention for fundraising for that cause. The backing is very soft golden brown flannel and batting used is 'Warm and Natural'. Hoping this quilt will raise a good amount for an important cause!

Now neighborhood people, many of whom are low-income tenants with no access to gardening, come together to grow food, beautify the neighborhood, avoid local crime temptations, and meet new friends.

One of the goals of Love Never Fails is to express to the Advocates that they are important, valued and loved for who they are. The Advocates were treated to an afternoon of pampering. Each Advocate received a facial and makeover from Macy's, one received a hair treatment from Pretty Foundation, and Love Never Fails provided each Advocate with a special gift of their choosing.

Comment: Children in Kenya face a bleak future. Adults are dying from AIDS, more diagnosed every day. Over 11 million African children have lost parents to AIDS. Orphans fend for themselves or live with relatives. Families face terrible choices: how to feed everyone in a drought on inadequate salaries? Who goes to school, to work? Visible Grace cares for Kenyan children orphaned by AIDS, providing the best education and environment. Our building will house two staff parents and 12 children. Ashby Rauch, founder, moves to Kenya this summer to finish building a home for these precious children. visiblegrace.org

Anniversary Blend 2012 - Drink a Great Cup, Do a Good Thing™

Peets Anniversary Blend 2012

Join us in celebrating 46 years.

All great coffee starts with great relationships, and our 2012 Anniversary Blend is no exception. To honor our coffee-growing partners, we're contributing 5% of the proceeds* to help establish reliable clean water access for the community of the Korona Plantation in Papua New Guinea.

Access to clean water is a great need in the highlands of Papua New Guinea where most women must walk long distances, often to and from rivers, to collect water. These proceeds will help build catchment water tanks (which collect and store large amounts of rainwater, a clean source of water) in a centrally-located and accessible spot within the community.

To craft a great cup, we matched Korona's Rainforest Alliance-certified coffee with the best, brightest and most complementary beans from Burundi Kirimiro and Colombia Antioquia Finca Santa Barbara. Anniversary Blend 2012 is rich, vibrant and aromatic.

We think this blend offers great tribute to our founding 46 years ago and we hope you'll join us in celebrating.
